I got this link from a comment in someone else's journal.

Now, I will note for the record that this site has some truly lovely religious art. But it also has this.

In addition to Ripped Boxing Ring Jesus, there's Dude, check out my tat! Jesus, Godzilla attacks the UN Jesus, and Totally unfair advantage in soccer even though I don't think he's wearing cleats Jesus.

And can someone tell me what kind of parent hangs this in their child's bedroom? IM IN UR ROOM. WATCHIN U SLEEP.

Haha. Although, I have to say, while Boxing Jeebus and Tat Jeebus are bordering on tacky, I like that they exist. And I have to wonder if whoever painted them was tired of Jeebus sitting around looking holy all the time.

Small digression for story time: I created a minor scandal in my religious family when I was 19 because I DYED my hair blue and got an EYEBROW RING. GASP! Oh noes! The horror. Keep in mind that I was attending church fairly regularly, was otherwise a well-behaved child, wasn't drinking or doing drugs. And a well-meaning uncle decided to come ask me to paint a picture of Jesus, and if I still felt good about my eyebrow ring after painting a picture of Jesus, then he, my uncle would give the ring his blessing. Well, of course, the implication was that after painting Jesus, I would realise what a sinner I was, and return to safe conformity of the fold. Hah. I kinda fumed quietly for a month, and made some sketches of Jesus in leather and shades on a motorcycle. Never did actually make the painting.

Site note 2: I actually know the artist of this picture. (http://picturesofjesus4you.com/256.html) He's a very popular artist in my home county, and since he knew my art teacher, he came into our school and chatted with us about art. I like some of his non-religious work (http://www.galleryone.com/images/olsen/olsen_-_fraternity_tree_the.JPG) very well, but it's hard to find these days.
