I remember shopping at Jacobsen's for staples -- you could get pretty much anything you needed there if you were willing to look for it. I remember being told when I took my Ballet I class for PE that I should buy my shoes there. Thinking back, I can't imagine where else I could possibly have found them in Northfield.
When I was feeling stressed or overwhelmed with college or just life, I used to walk down Division street to More-4, poking around in the shops on the way and looking at ordinary things like blue jeans and LP records. Jacobsen's was always my first stop, and a first step toward grounding. I miss it.
