Well, her new best friend is a second grader and she's had some social interactions with second-grade boys that seem to be of the hat-stealing, pigtail-yanking variety. She seems to mostly ignore and be ignored by the third graders; I'm curious to see how that goes now that they've been placed into reading groups.
I really loved my mixed-age open classrooms at the school I attended as a kid. But, it was a private school with 2 teachers per 25-kid class, or something like that. I find it hard to imagine Wingra being functional with the kind of ratios we see in Minneapolis.
