Books by the Wheelbarrow Load
Mar. 22nd, 2006 11:22 pmSo, Molly has a library card now. And she can read. She reads a lot, and she prefers picture books, which she can finish in a sitting, though she also reads short chapter books.
I have guiltily imposed a limit on how many books she can check out in one library trip: not more than can fit into two tote bags, because as it is I can barely carry all her books back to the car.
We went today. (Wednesday is now library day.) She checked out 34 books. (I just sat down with the strip of paper that prints out with all the titles, and counted.) She appears to have checked out the entire Rosemary Wells section -- those probably caught her eye because of the book "Noisy Nora," which she owns. She also checked out a couple of books by Jane Yolen ("How do Dinosaurs Say Good Night" and "How do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon"), the third Junie B. Jones book (Junie B. Jones is the star of a series of humorous chapter books targeted to kids about Molly's age), and a big pile of other picture books.
She will read almost all of these by next Wednesday.
While Kiera was napping today, after the library trip, Molly asked me to read to her, but then she wanted to sit in my lap and read to me.
