The first reason I haven't been posting much lately is that I've been writing. I've written about 10,000 words on my new novel (the juvenile SF, which has the working title "Castaways") in the last week. I have actually written up a daily progress report and posted it to LJ but I made it private because they're damn boring I can't believe anyone else wants to see it.
The second reason is that aside from the writing (which has been going well) my life has been filled with minor annoyances, and while LJ can be a good place to vent about minor annoyances, every time I've tried to write about them I've deleted it after two paragraphs because I just sound whiny. I mean, for example, the day before yesterday I dropped a plate onto a beer bottle and caused the top to pop off and fizz all over the place. Imagine dozens of similarly minor but annoying incidents and you've got my week.
On the plus side, today when I stopped at the drugstore I found an item that has been eluding me (I've been looking for one for a while) -- a bottle opener with a magnet on the back. In fact, I found two; it was $1 for a set of two identical ones. I wish they'd given me just one with a stronger magnet, but hey, at least it's a bottle opener with a magnet on the back. Now if only I could figure out where they sell those little thin rubber circles that you use to get a good grip on jar lids; we need a new one of those, too.
