Date: 2006-02-19 04:36 am (UTC)(The glowing ball on the cover of Fires of the Faithful actually made sense in the context of the book, where magic always took the form of exothermic reactions, and in its simplest, most accessible form was used basically as a flashlight.)

Rowling demanded that her publisher hire her grade-school-aged child to do her cover art, they would shrug and do it. Where does the 900 pound gorilla sit when he goes to the movie theater? Anywhere he wants. Even at lower levels of fame -- Mercedes Lackey's novels have recently all had art drawn by her husband, and I'm guessing she had something to do with that. He's a genuinely talented artist, though, so I doubt her publisher had major objections to the idea.

Date: 2006-02-20 09:43 pm (UTC)Now I suppose I'll break down and go buy the first two. :)Read them now, before spring hits and I'm in the garden all the time. By the time this one comes out, I'll be ready to retreat inside to avoid the heat.
I'm just impatient - it would have driven me NUTS to read the first two if I didn't know when the third one was gonna be out! I think that's why I don't get into the long, drawn out book series in general.
Congrats, btw!
