Kelly McCullough lives in Menomonie, and warned me that there is a major construction project on 94 at Menomonie. It goes down to a single lane each way. Apparently it's usually okay on weekdays, but the delay Friday through Sunday can be up to an hour. He provided directions for the adventurous who might like a back route around Menomonie, avoiding the construction, noting that this could save you up to 45 minutes if things are really slow.

Here are his directions:

From 94 East bound:

Get off at the Knapp exit, exit 32, County road Q.
At the bottom of the ramp take a right.
You'll be on Q for about 3 miles (There's a big curve right after a quarter of a mile or so, then an S curve that tells you to slow to 45 -- they're serious about the 45).
Eventually, it Ts into Highway 29.
Take a left on 29.
You'll take 29 all the way back to 94.

Details of 29
You'll go about 8 miles on 29 before you hit Menomonie.
In Menomonie, 29 Ts into Broadway at a stoplight.
It takes a left there and so do you.
At the next stoplight (1 short and 1 long block up) take a right
with 29 onto main.
Stay with 29 as it curves through Menomonie and out the other side.
It will continue on about six miles to 94 (at exit 52)

Right up the ramp and you're back on the way.
