I can't wear blue jeans because they don't fit well over the strap around my knee (yes, I am still having knee problems). Instead, I wear khakis pretty much every day. I have these two pairs of navy blue Dockers that make really excellent surrogate blue jeans. They're dark blue, loose fitting, equipped with pockets (both side and rear) and belt loops. They have a single button, nothing goofy. They sit at my WAIST, not halfway down my hips. (I really don't care whether "low rise" pants are more stylish. I find them uncomfortable.) They're pleated in the front -- I prefer plain, but I'll take what I can get. In other words, they are almost identical to the 12 pairs of khakis on Ed's side of the closet, except they're cut to accomodate a female person's waist/hip ratio.

Unfortunately, one pair of my blue khakis vanished. I put them in the closet, and they disappeared. The other pair have a rip in the knee. I do have a pair of ivory ones, but I strongly prefer blue, as these really are basically intended to fill the "blue jeans" niche in my wardrobe.

Since Mervyn's closed, I have had mixed success in finding my prefered style of pants in stores. So I looked online. Dockers apparently makes this style now ONLY FOR MEN. For women, they have a wide variety of overpriced stupid-looking uncomfortable pocketless pants.

If anyone has a pair of size 14 navy blue "Classic Khaki" Dockers that they don't want anymore, can I buy them off you? Alternately, if anyone knows where I could go to find what I want (it doesn't HAVE to be the Dockers brand, it's just that I have found Dockers to be low-maintenance, very comfortable and durable, and to break in really nicely, and have had really mixed luck with other brands, including Land's End.)

Have you tried Eddie Bauer? They're probably slightly spendier than Lands End, but both of my pairs of pants from them fit loosely in the knee, and fall at my waist.

Lee?

I'm very devoted to the Lee brand khaki's (I prefer the elastic waist style, but they have a misses & womens non-elastic waist too. I'm short and wide so I wear the women's petite elastic waist, but they have a wide variety of twill pants in petite, average and tall, with several waist choices. The elastic waist have marvelous pockets, which can hold (between the two pockets) a PDA, a bill fold, a cellphone and a hard glasses case.

Look at jcpenney.com and search lee pants and select the results for women.

You can also order pants directly from Lee. It's more pricey than JCP, but that's how I get jeans for mutantly tall people. :) Ditto checking the Docker's web site, etc.

It looks like there may be some pairs floating around.

Could you dye your ivory ones blue? Navy dye should be easy to come by, if you don't mind giving up the ivory-ness.

Depending on the search I use there are as many as 60 pairs of size 14 dockers women's pants (The best search appears to be to start with navy dockers, select women's clothing from the left menu and select pants.

This pair in particular looke promising, although it isn't your exact pant, being a flat front.
