I think Kiera said "kitty" today, but I'm not absolutely sure. "Dih dih," pointing at a cat. We'll see if she repeats it tomorrow.

Molly wanted another read-through of A Child Is Born today. Once again, she wanted to hear about conception, then she wanted to skip to childbirth, followed by the chapters about premature babies and assisted reproduction. When we were looking at the childbirth pictures she cupped her hands against the picture of the baby's head and said that she was going to pretend to catch the baby.

She wants to read more about premature babies. Are there any child-friendly books about prematurity? That seems rather a tall order, but surely there's something out there for siblings of babies in the NICU. She was fascinated by the pictures of the babies in incubators, and also by the baby getting kangaroo care.

[livejournal.com profile] alphasarah has a premature kiddo with a blog. It's not exactly a children's book, but there are a lot of great pictures, and detailed updates that you may be able to translate into language that is understandable to a 4 year old. Her daughter is doing very well, and has had very few major problems, so going through the pictures and pages with Molly is probably easier than it would be for a sicker baby. The blog can be found <a href="http://snowplow.org/sarah/pers/Shoshanna/>here</a>.
