Magic: The Gathering
Mar. 7th, 2008 04:34 pmI mentioned Magic: The Gathering to Molly yesterday and she was curious about it. I spent far, far, far too many hours playing M:TG during my senior year of college, mostly with
probably_lost and my other housemates. Curtis had a ton of cards, and I frequently borrowed from him, but I did have some of my own. Never enough to play blue, but I had an acceptable if unimpressive selection of the other colors.
I found my cards, picked off the remains of rubber bands that had melted to them since 1995, and looked through them. Then I looked up the rules on Wikipedia. I totally do not remember how to play this game.

Date: 2008-03-14 01:28 am (UTC)The math tells me that this is ten cards a pack, times sixty a box, times ten boxes a case, times four cases -- equalling, um, 24k cards. (Assuming the math between starters and boosters in a box remains equal -- which I'm pretty sure it does. They haven't manufactured these for a decade.. Anyway..)
It's _really_ too bad that vintage OTN cards have miniscule value compared to the same-period Magic cards. But assuming Molly's interest in such card games is less a function of their EBay value and more about the rules of the given game, I could set both of you up with a display box of the Standard Game and Each Expansion -- at minimal cost, of course. (And by minimal, I mean zero, or their worth.)
