Vote early, vote often
Jul. 27th, 2009 08:10 pmThe doorbell rang while we were eating dinner; I thought it was going to be someone selling siding, but it turned out to be a guy dropping lit for our City Council rep. Then the phone rang just now and it was someone fundraising for the Minneapolis Mayor's re-election campaign. Worse, she was using an autodialer, she had the most godawful nasal voice you've ever heard, and she spoke really slowly while making her way through an overly long, incredibly tedious script before hitting me up for a $50 donation.
It is JULY and the election is not until November. We're not even having a September primary this year; we're going straight into the general election with an instant-runoff ballot. My least favorite thing about election season are all the phone calls and I cannot believe they're starting ALREADY.
On the other hand, I can see why RT is worried, what with opponents like these. (Go read -- it's hilarious. One of the people running had a vision while in a mental ward in the 1980s revealing to him that Laura Ingalls Wilder is God.)
