Back in 2008, [livejournal.com profile] ceruleanst put up a couple of scenes from Pulp Fiction rewritten to sound like Shakespeare. Other people liked the idea and set up a Wiki, but interest flagged pretty quickly.

However, some Minnesotans picked up the material from the Wiki, edited it, wrote the rest (minus the scenes with the Wolf, to keep it to an hour) and staged it in the Minnesota Fringe Festival. Ed and I saw it tonight.

It was a ton of fun, and worked very well; the program notes that they were surprised as they worked on it just how well the movie translated into an Elizabethan style stage play. In place of the flashback scene to Butch getting the watch, incidentally, they had Butch get visited by a ghost, which cracked me up as it was definitely the Shakespearean alternative to a flashback.

I heart the Fringe Festival.

I enjoyed the Shakespeare-with-zombies a lot last year, but decided to pass up this one as, uh, I have never seen Pulp Fiction.

We love love loved this play. As you stated in your other Fringe post, a friend cowrote and acted in it -- [livejournal.com profile] roy_batty, and got us all to go. Happy happy day.

And they got the encore!
