Molly: Knock knock.
Me: Who's there?
Molly: Birdseed.
Me: What?
Molly: Birdseed.
Me: Oh, okay. Birdseed who?
Molly: Knock knock.
Me: Who's there?
Molly: Birdseed.
Me: Birdseed who?
Molly: Oops, I did it again!
It took me a minute, but I figured out where the heck this came from.
springbok1 told Molly this joke a couple of days ago. Well, except that she told it as "Britney," not "Birdseed," but if you're a four-year-old and pretty much out of the loop on pop culture, I can see where you'd get it confused.
On an unrelated note: for Molly's birthday,
springbok1 gave her a CD player and two mix CDs of some songs Abi thought Molly would like. The CDs came out of a conversation we had at one point about how someone could release a collection of Beatles songs that would appeal to children -- you could include When I'm Sixty-Four and Eight Days a Week and Yellow Submarine and (why not?) Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Anyway, the CDs Abi put together were also collections of songs that were not actually written as children's music, but which she thought would appeal to Molly anyway. The first song on the first CD was Hello Dolly by Louis Armstrong. Molly loves this song. She doesn't always listen to the full CD, but she'll play that song over and over.
Anyway, this evening, we were in Molly's room and Kiera came running over with the CD case saying, "Oh Lolly! Oh Lolly!"
So I put the CD on for them, of course.
Molly likes listening to music but Kiera, I think, would prefer it if I had music on all the time. I tend not to play music during the day because it inhibits my ability to listen for trouble if I'm out of the room...
