Freedom's Apprentice comes out today. So get out there and buy it!

I had this thing all typed out about my paranoia about the fact that this is book two of a trilogy, but it sounded really pathetic. Let me sum up: if you don't like reading trilogies until all three books are available, that's fine. Just, with my books, go buy them as soon as they're out. You can stick them on a shelf until Freedom's Sisters is released.

Wait, you know, that sounded really harsh in an author-as-bossy-dominatrix kind of way. Let me try again. Please go buy them. No, wait, does that make me sound desperate?

Saturday was my birthday. I turned 32. It was also the 20th anniversary of the release of New Coke. I vividly remember the whole New Coke debacle (though I wasn't much of a cola drinker at the time -- and my mother always bought R.C., in glass one-liter bottles that came in six packs, so even when I did get to drink cola, it wasn't Coke anyway). I had not, however, remembered that it coincided with my birthday. I also share a birthday with William Shakespeare, Shirley Temple Black, and James Buchanan, who is notable for being probably the single worst president the U.S. has ever had.

It was also the first night of Passover, and Ed and I hosted a Seder, which went well. Ed got me the folio edition of the St. John's Bible that I was coveting a couple of weeks ago. (It's not the complete Bible -- just the Gospels and Acts. They're releasing it in multiple books. Fair enough, seeing as the whole thing isn't actually done yet.) Also, he and Molly made me truffles, which are amazing.

I ordered your first two books last week. Second one got here first (see my post about my frustration). But as soon as I finish this set, I shall pick up the first two books of the trilogy. I loved the beginning of the first book (which Amazon let me read online, prompting me to have to go buy it to finish the book), so I'm sure I'll like the rest. :)

Happy belated birthday to you, and way to go Ed on picking up the bible!

Here's a story of casting bread upon water: A short while back, I emailed you a question about one of your stories in RoF. You very nicely replied and entertained a few more questions. How could I not buy your books? (Even though I really am one of those people that hates jumping into a series before I know it's finished.)
