Why do I live in this state?

Passing through the living room this morning, I glance at the thermostat to see what the temperature is inside the house. It's 80. I notice at this point that the thermostat is actually set on "heat" (though the furnace won't kick in unless the temperature somehow dips to 65 degrees). We actually did need the furnace not that long ago -- maybe two weeks? I shut it off.

I went back just now and turned the air conditioner.

Spring? What is this "spring" of which you speak?

This climate is about what I grew up with in Ulster County, NY (Catskills region). So for me, there's the virtue of familiarity.

On the other hand, Minneapolis is too flat for my taste. But so is San Francisco.

Oh, come on now. It hasn't snowed for weeks and weeks. That's what spring is: when the AC isn't on yet and there's no snow on the ground.

Well, technically I suppose you're right, but I refuse to accept that it counts when it also rains nonstop for a month. Even if it's raining, rather than snowing.
