Beta Draft of Freedom's Sisters
Jul. 4th, 2005 03:15 pmI am finishing up the beta draft of Freedom's Sisters.
Is anyone interested in being a beta reader / commentor?
I am particularly eager to find at least one or two people who have not read the first two books in the trilogy, to tell me where they get totally lost so that I can add brief explanations as necessary. However, those who have read the first two books are also welcome to volunteer.

Date: 2005-07-07 04:51 am (UTC)And the Parenting Research Review actually turned out to exist! I found it one day via an ad in Brain Child. I subscribed, and it rocks. It's exactly what I was thinking the world needed, which is most excellent since I really don't have time to do it. I e-mailed the publisher and suggested she advertise on SMs; I'd have suggested bf.com but I've heard their rates are insanely high.

Date: 2005-07-07 05:50 am (UTC)More seriously: I won't push past this comment, but I loved the first two books and would probably trade my left kidney to see the beta 'script for the third. :)

Re: Beta Readers
Date: 2005-07-08 08:27 pm (UTC)There is a website at http://www.critters.org where writers request and get online critiques for their work -- short stories, mostly, but novel readers are periodically requested. Critters is sort of an exchange, as I understand it -- you read their work and give feedback, and they will read yours. If someone started using Critters and only ever gave feedback, never posting stories for others to critique, I'm not sure if this would mess with their setup or if no one would notice or object. As for other professional writers, I know that John Scalzi has posted "wanna be a beta reader? e-mail me!" requests on occasion. I don't know about others. (I can tell you that I turned green with envy when I heard that Peg Kerr got to beta read for Lois McMaster Bujold...)
Happy to be a reader!
Date: 2005-07-08 07:59 pm (UTC)Kirsten Marcum here. I didn't know you had a blog! I'd love to be a beta reader....and I haven't read the first two books, though I'd like to.
E-mail is: kirstenmarcum@yahoo.com.
