We had Thanksgiving dinner at my parents' house, but made a turkey of our own today. (Or rather, Ed made it. He is the expert bird roaster. I don't think I've ever roasted a turkey -- it's always been Ed.) We like turkey, they're really cheap this time of year, and you can get a lot of dinners out of them.
Kiera clearly viewed the turkey as mostly a vehicle for the gravy. She likes turkey, but she really likes gravy. She had me put it on her turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing, then requested more gravy four or five times so that she could dip each piece of turkey separately. Her other favorite part of the meal was the brussels sprouts; she ate two of them without so much as asking me to cut them up, chewing them slowly with an expression of bliss on her face. She also demanded some of the skin, but didn't like it as much as she liked the gravy. (Ed's turkey had acres of beautiful crisp brown skin, which we made sure to eat tonight. I'm happy to recycle leftover turkey meat into day-after-Thanksgiving sandwiches, or pot pie, or any number of other things, but the skin is no good the next day.)
