Render Unto Daddy

When I was a kid, if my father bought me an ice cream cone, he'd take a bite out of it before handing it to me, declaring this to be a Daddy Tax. Ed and I both adopted the idea of the Parent Tax when handing out treats to our kids (at least some of the time).

Yesterday, Molly wanted a snack, and helped herself to a stick of string cheese. She also got out a piece of string cheese for Kiera.

Kiera started yelling, "Don't take a Molly tax! Don't take a Molly tax!"

I do that too, call it a Mommy Tax. It was quite easy to explain the concept of real gubment taxes to Ian because he is so used to me taking the first bite of everything yummy. :-D
