I had insomnia last night, plus a headache that got worse when I went to bed, keeping me awake even more thoroughly. I finally got to sleep sometime after 2 a.m. At 5 a.m., I woke to the sound of Molly throwing up. Ed got up to deal with it, but dealing with a puking child is really a lot easier with two people. I grabbed a laundry basket for the soiled sheets, dug more sheets out of the closet, got a bowl from downstairs for her to throw up in if she had to throw up again, etc. Ed got her settled and we went back to bed. At 6:30 a.m., I woke to the sound of Molly throwing up, again. This time, she'd used the bowl, but I needed to dump it out, get her a drink of water, get a washcloth to wipe her face, etc. I resettled her, then went back to bed.
Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep last night.
Yet I was weirdly productive today. I finished the Christmas story; it is 4,833 words long, and 2,727 of them were written today. It seems like a good story to me, though I am so sleep-deprived I very well might be deeply mistaken. It did occur to me as I was wrapping up that I mentioned a cat which then never puts in an appearance; I should probably go back and, you know, at least mention it hiding under the bed or something.
And now I should probably go to bed, except that even when I'm exhausted, I have a really hard time getting to sleep if I go to bed early.

Date: 2006-01-29 04:13 am (UTC)This evening, she had to throw up while peeing, and wailed, "Mama, I need my bowl!" We weren't quite able to get it into her on time, but at least she's figured out that she should yell for the basin if she's about to toss her cookies. (Or her Jell-O and popsicle, as the case may be.) Poor kiddo.
