Yea!

Although getting a new job with the same company that laid him off seems bizarre, even in this economy.

My friend Marta's been hired and laid off by the same company at least three times. But maybe that's just Detroit.

Great news, Naomi! Mazel Tov!

That's wonderful news! And really, being laid off is generally an economic issue for the company, not a reflection on how they felt about Ed. In the manufacturing community here, it's extremely common to get brought back in a different area after being laid off. The company has to pay towards his unemployment while he's laid off, so it's good for them to have him hired back, too.

It's also much easier to go back to the same company than start over somewhere else. He won't have to learn new office politics (not so much, at least). And you're familiar with corporate structure and policies. I'd say it's a good thing all around!

Have fun with the girls and getting back into your "single mom" during the day routine. I know it was nice having my husband home before he got his job, but I was happy to have him go back to work, too!
